NT/NB Ultrasound

NT/NB Ultrasound (Nuchal Translucency/Nasal Bone Ultrasound) is a special scan done during early pregnancy, usually between 11 to 14 weeks. It checks the clear space at the back of the baby’s neck (nuchal translucency) and the presence of the nasal bone. These measurements help assess the risk of certain genetic conditions, such as Down syndrome. It is a safe, painless test that uses sound waves to give doctors important information about the baby’s early development. NT/NB ultrasound is often part of the first-trimester screening and helps plan further tests if needed.

Why NT/NB Ultrasound Is Performed?

NT/NB Ultrasound is done during early pregnancy (11–14 weeks) to check the baby’s development. It measures the clear space at the back of the baby’s neck (nuchal translucency) and checks if the nasal bone is visible. These signs help assess the risk of genetic problems like Down syndrome or other chromosomal disorders.

  • Part of routine first-trimester screening tests.

  • Helps decide if further genetic testing is needed.
