Level II Scan Ultrasound is a detailed and advanced ultrasound test done during pregnancy, usually between 18 to 22 weeks. It gives a clear and detailed view of the baby’s organs, body parts, and overall growth. This scan checks for any physical abnormalities or birth defects. This ultrasound is important as it aids to monitor organ development, diagnose congenital malformations, review level of amniotic fluid and make sure proper placement of placental. It gives a through insight at child’s body.

Not at all, this scan is painless, non-invasive and totally safe for both baby and mother.

If some abnormality is detected, you have to go through some more test like MRI, fetal echo and genetic testing for a more precise diagnosis.

Mostly, no extra preparation is required. But, a moderately full bladder might sometimes be suggested to get clearer images.

As per the baby’s cooperation and position during the scan, this scan usually takes 35 to 40 minutes.
